Modeling clay, UV/fluorescent acrylic paint, black light illumination on mirror
This lizard feels at home in tropical and subtropical regions, both in water and on land. The upper body is pink to light brown, usually with colorful dots or net-like markings. It is capable of drastic color changes and is capable of primary bioluminescence. This is based on chemical processes in which released energy is emitted in the form of light. The animals are unique in their physiology and appearance. There is only one sex, which fertilizes itself through parthenogenesis. The exclusively female young hatch from the 4-8 eggs after 84 days and are then nursed for up to 4 weeks. The Quatscholotti can walk upside down on the ceiling thanks to the billion tiny hairs (about 200 nanometers wide and long), called spatulae. It feeds on aquatic plants, lichens, and algae, which it grazes from the bottom of waterways or from rock walls and tree bark.
